Like a lover’s whisper waking you from a refreshing slumber, Vocalz' voice is that siren beckoning you near. It is familiar, tender, sweet, yet fulfilling. With a voice and delivery like a lover’s kiss, enveloping you, and a style reminiscent of the golden eras of R&B, Vocalz Iz welcomes you to the music that makes you feel good. His music is the soundtrack to your life, the happy times, hard moments, milestones. The music that will be with you throughout your life.
Nurtured in music in his hometown of New Orleans, La. the musical mecca, where Jazz, and R&B, originated and Gospel greats thrived; Vocalz Iz was raised on a steady diet of musical royalty like Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Maze ft. Frankie Beverly, Darryl Coley, O’Bryan, George Duke, and the Windjammers to name a few. He continues to be fed by the legends of our time, Brandy, Take 6, Boyz II Men, and others. His sound is a fusion of classic R&B, the heart of Neo-Soul, and a clear under-current of spirituality. It led him to create the genre called “Gumbo Soul”.
Vocalz Iz has a deeply rooted and profound love of music. Since the age of 3 singing has been his passion and calling. “I have always wanted to sing, I was born to sing, there has never been a moment when I was not a singer.” Singing has shaped his life from his first choir solo at age 4, to singing in front of thousands at arenas around the country.
Vocalz Iz has what it takes to succeed: very unique talents (vocally, harmoniously, and song writing wise). He delivers tremendous lead vocals and tender harmony; and most of all the mental drive, the love for the art, and the faith to never give up on his dream. The love for singing shows in his sound, and the audience feels it as well.
To list his musical accomplishments would fill a library, but Vocalz Iz has graced the stage of the Legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem nationally on Showtime at the Apollo, performed at the Mercedes Benz Superdome and Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans, The House of Blues, Tipitinas, The Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum, and The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival to name a few.
Sharing the stage with amazing artists from The Neville Brothers, Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child, Kermit Ruffins, Tricia Boutte-Lango, Brandy, H-Town, The Isley Brothers, Mystikal, Eric Roberson, Jaheim, R. Kelly, Slave, Musiq Soulchild, The Ladies of Skyy, Legends Ashford and Simpson, Melisa Morgan, and Alyson Williams, and so many more, have taught him the value of preparation, determination, professionalism, and more.
Vocalz Iz — Gentleman of Love —soothes our soul with lyrical tales of romance and heartache, singing the songs that define our relationships in life and in love.
His sound is as distinctive as it is timeless. It is the love letter tied with red silk ribbon, the long - stemmed rose in a crystal vase, the candlelit dinner on the penthouse balcony and the innocence of the first kiss in the moonlight. A voice like a gentle breeze, light and sweet. His smooth delivery is more than enough to soften the hearts of adoring lovers, taking them along as a feather on the morning draft.
